Sometimes it is hard not to judge a book by its cover, or more relevant to this blog, a town by its eateries but Dear Reader, do not be too quick to judge Morrinsville! I have to admit, lunch time had rolled around and then disappeared and as we were making our way back up country from the Tron I was beginning to think I was getting a packet of chips for lunch 😦 Happily, we made it to the end of the main street and there it was – the Crazee Cow.
Their lunch menu had many a Gfree option. For starters, gluten free bread so all sandwiches are OK. Nachos also safe and two salads – bacon and kumara or warm chicken salad (minus the crispy noodles of course!). I had their chicken green curry and it was really tasty. Their cabinet was similarly well endowed with a lemon louise slice (pictured), a choc nut slice, a friand, melting moments, little cow shaped shortbreads and 3 (!!) kinds of biscuit. They have a good system – green cards for gluten free.
The staff were also really helpful and knew what they were talking about. They knew what gluten is, and which ingredients were in each dish. You expect good service in a small town and we weren’t disappointed.
And yup, it’s a consideration so the verdict on the coffee? Thumbs up from my beloved. It’s open Mon -Fri 7:30 to 4, and weekends 9 to 3.
